Clay Shooting Practice

Southern Counties is open throughout the year on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (closed Mondays and from 2nd October 2013 also closed on Wednesdays).

Founded in 1959 it is now the largest shooting ground in the Country with over 450 fully automatic traps and offers practice for the following disciplines:

  • FITASC & English Sporting & Sportrap

  • English and Olympic Skeet

  • DTL, Double Trap, ABT, Universal Trench and Olympic Trap

  • The trap, skeet and double trap layouts are all equipped with Laporte machines and Italian Electronica Progetti Computers.

Our sporting layout includes a grouse butt and our renowned 140 foot high tower.

Coaching is available on the High Tower

For Sporting, Skeet and DTL the ground uses the claymate counter system which is easy to use, even if you are shooting by yourself, and leaves you in charge of how many clays you want to shoot - the clays are charged at 30p per clay. For ABT, Universal Trench and Olympic Trap we use tokens charged at £7.50 per round of 25 targets.

Practice is normally open from 9am until 4.45pm on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and on Sunday 9am to 4pm. We are closed on Mondays including Bank Holidays and from 2nd October 2013, we are closed on Wednesdays. Although practice is on a turn up and shoot basis, please ring us on 01935-83625 if you are unsure that the discipline you require is available.
